Book Group Guide POOL BOOK INSTRUCTIONS The libraries in Suffolk County have cooperatively purchased sets of paperback books (15-20 copies per title) which they make available to book discussion groups. The collection currently includes over 350 titles. A list of available titles is kept at the Adult Reference Desk and the full list may also be accessed online at http://sclspool.suffolk.lib.ny.us. Three Village residents with valid Emma Clark Library cards may borrow these sets for one month to use with their private book groups by using the Pool Book Request Form available at the library. Certain restrictions apply as noted below and on the request form. Because some titles are in great demand, members should request pool books as far in advance as possible and at least 2 months before the scheduled discussion date. Whenever possible, members should provide alternate dates for a specific title desired or alternate titles for the desired date in case their first choice is not available. Every participating book group relies upon the timely return of pool books by the previous group. For this reason, it is extremely important that borrowed books be returned promptly. Pool books should always be returned on the day after the scheduled discussion date. The set should be as complete as possible, but it is more important to get the majority of books to the next group than to wait to return the box until it contains all the copies (which can be returned as they are available). Any stragglers should be returned as soon as possible (individually or as a group). A $10 replacement fee will be charged for any pool book which is not returned within one week of its due date. As noted on the Pool Book Request Form, any Emma Clark member, by requesting pool books, agrees to accept the following responsibilities:
The library reserves the right to refuse to loan pool books to any member who does not comply with the above rules. |
