Calling all art lovers! You can create arts & crafts and learn about art through the Library. Both in-person and online, as well as daytime and evening options available. We have the following events and classes coming up in September and October:
The Beauty of Skin – Painting Classical Realism with Acrylic Paint (In-Person)
Tuesday, September 3 OR Thursday, September 19, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Art instructor Candice Licalzi will teach you how to create a realistic portrait using classical painting techniques. You will learn how to easily develop an underpainting and create realistic skin tones using a combination of 4 colors. Space is limited.

Nile River Cruise (Online)
Wednesday, September 4, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Join museum educator Marisa Horowitz-Jaffe as she guides us on a virtual tour down the Nile. Our cruise begins in the Delta Valley with a stop at the Great Pyramids and the new Grand Egyptian Museum. Then, we make our way south along the Nile with our first stop at the Temple Complex of Karnak, one of the most famous Ancient Egyptian sites. We continue south and visit Esna and Dendera, exploring the unique architecture and stunning color remnants inside the temples. Archaeological methods and hidden gems are all to be discovered! Coffee Painting: Autumn Landscape (In-Person)

Welcome autumn as you paint a beautiful sepia-toned watercolor-like landscape of a river with reeds on its banks, using only coffee and water! Led by artist/art educator Bonnie Schwartz. No prior painting experience is required. Space is limited.

Art Talk: Great Masters of the Italian Renaissance: Leonardo, Michelangelo, & Raphael (In-Person)

Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael were all active during the High Renaissance, which was an intense period of creativity in Italy and beyond from the 1480’s into the first decades of the Sixteenth Century in Florence, Milan, and Rome. Join Professor Sandra Palmer and learn about these three great masters, specifically their artistic styles, individual masterpieces, and the rivalry that existed between them. Drawing Basics: Light and Shadow (In-Person)
Tuesday, October 29, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. OR 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Artist and Art Educator Bonnie Schwartz will teach you about light and shadow as you make a Halloween drawing of a black cat sitting among pumpkins. No prior drawing ability required. Pencils and paper will be provided but it is recommended that you bring a 9 x 12 drawing pad.
