SuffolkWave Guided Tour

Hardware Requirements
SuffolkWave eAudiobooks can be downloaded or played on any desktop, laptop or portable device supporting Windows Media Player version 9 and above. You can also transfer favorite titles to some supported portable devices. The portable device must be able to support playback of secure or protected wma files.

Click here for more help in finding a SuffolkWave-supported device.

For best performance, we recommend a player that supports bookmarking to allow you to designate a place within a file and return to that place after you stop or turn off your device.

Software Requirements
You must download and install a program called the Overdrive Media Console for downloading and checking items out. For playback, Windows Media Player is recommended.

Loan Period
You can checkout a maximum of five (5) titles at any given time for a period of 7 days. You will not be able to check out additional titles until the license for a currently downloaded title expires. SuffolkWave automatically downloads a license with each download, which lets you access the audiobook for 7 days. Depending on the specific title, you may be allowed to copy it to a portable device, or in some cases burn it to a CD. Once the file has expired, the item will automatically check itself in. The file that you downloaded to your computer will no longer play and will remain on your computer until you delete it. We recommend that in order to preserve hard disk space, users regularly delete the files from their computers once the files have expired.

Please note that there is no way to check a book back in early. Each book stays attached to your account for a full 7 days.

Audio Quality
SuffolkWave offers only CD quality files. However the larger files are broken down into parts so that you don't have to download the entire work in one session.

iPod/Mac Compatability
At this time, SuffolkWave audiobooks cannot be played on iPods. iPods and Macs do not have the ability to play .wma files with the Digital Rights Management protection currently used by the SuffolkWave system.
