Safety Workshops for Teens & Tweens
We’re offering a workshop on healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and another on how social media can skew someone’s view of the relationships around them. Both are taught by a representative from Parents for Megan’s Law Crime Victims Center and participants (Grades 6 – 12) will earn community service credit for attending.
“Because I Love You”
Friday, September 18, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
“Because I love you” is a phrase that we’ve probably all heard or said before. During this program, teens and tweens will watch a short film, visualizing how this seemingly kind phrase can be used as a form of manipulation in an unhealthy relationship. Discussion will follow. Taught by a representative from Parents for Megan’s Law Crime Victims Center. Earn 1 hour of community service credit for participating. Register for the “Because I Love You” class here starting 8/18.
Behind the Post
Sunday, October 4, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Participants will learn how social media can skew their view of the relationships around them and influence their decision to stay in unhealthy ones. This workshop explores all 10 Signs of an Unhealthy Relationship and is your go-to for educating about digital consent and social media. Content Warning: Educational Videos will contain actors creating representations of unhealthy and abusive romantic relationships. Viewer discretion is advised. Taught by a representative from Parents for Megan’s Law Crime Victims Center. Earn 1 hour of community service credit for participating. Register here for Behind the Post class here starting 9/15.
