Shed the Meds – Protect the Environment

Medication in a trash can

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office hosts this safe way to properly dispose of unused medications.  Proper disposal is essential to protect the environment and ensure that old drugs don’t end up in the wrong hands.  They will be located in the historic section of the Library to collect non-liquid drugs/medications on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

There is no registration required and all are welcome.

Please note: The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office cannot accept any liquids or needles of any kind. They are only accepting unused or expired medications from individuals (not large quantities from a doctor’s office or health care facility).

Community Volunteer Fair – 9/25

Text says "Volunteer Fair at Emma Clark Library" with the L being a raised hand with a heart.

If you’re looking for a way to serve and better your community, look no further than our Community Volunteer Fair on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 4:00  – 7:00 p.m.  Meet and speak with representatives from local organizations that are seeking volunteers. In addition to serving your community, becoming a volunteer is also a great way to get to know your neighbors and meet new friends.  Volunteer work can enhance your resume or college application as well.

There is no registration required. All are welcome (both teens and adults, residents and non-residents).

We’ll have 15+ organizations at the event, and below is list of those scheduled to be in attendance (as of 9/9):

In addition, we’ll also have a table with handouts and materials from organizations who were unable to attend the fair but are also looking for volunteers.
