Drives for Local Charities to Close Out the Year at Emma Clark Library

Setauket, NY – October 13, 2022 –

Emma Clark Library will be hosting two drives for local charities for the remainder of 2022. The Pajamas for Those in Need Drive will run from October 31 – November 20, and the Share the Warmth Drive will be held from November 21 – December 31.

For the “Pajamas for Those in Need” Drive, Library staff and volunteers will be collecting new pajamas in any size. The “Share the Warmth” Drive, which is an annual tradition, encourages individuals to bring in new or hand-made mittens, scarves, hats, gloves, or socks.  The Library hosts these drives in particular because many homeless shelters will mention that pajamas and socks are the most needed clothing items.

Donation boxes will be located in the Library lobby to the left of the Circulation Desk, and all are welcome to donate (residents or nonresidents) during Library hours. Teen volunteers will be picking up the items and distributing them to various local organizations in need. These junior high and high school students earn community service credit for doing so.

Anyone that has questions about the Drives should contact askus@emmaclark.org. If you live in Three Village, are in grades 7 – 12, and would like to apply to become a Volunteer Teen Transporter, please visit teen.emmaclark.org/teen-transporters.

The Emma S. Clark Memorial Library, located at 120 Main Street in Setauket and on the web at www.emmaclark.org, provides public library service to all residents of the Three Village Central School District.
